Barcelona have been deprived of Lionel Messi for the trip to Celtic FC
on Tuesday after confirming the forward will be out for "between two and
three weeks".
The
26-year-old, who hit a hat-trick in the matchday one victory against
AFC Ajax, departed 29 minutes into Saturday's 2-0 Liga win at UD Almería
with a thigh injury after opening the scoring. "Tests carried out by
the club's medical services have confirmed the initial diagnosis that
Leo Messi has suffered a slight thigh injury in his right leg," a
Barcelona statement read.
Messi, second only to Raúl González in
the all-time UEFA Champions League scoring records, has struck 11 times
in seven games this season and will target a return in the Liga game at
CA Osasuna on 19 October.
